The Cohesive Center Of Your Life

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

Ephesians 1:19: And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

Read also Ephesians 1:1-23.

We find here at least three ways in which God*s gracious work for sinners is made evident.

I am redeemed. From the dawn of Creation, to the provision of animal skins for our sinning parents, to the singing of the heavenly choirs in Glory in a coming day, the precious message of salvation through the shed blood of Christ is history*s constant and timeless theme.

I am forgiven. Only because Christ died can my record be cleared and I be forgiven. I must realize that all I deserve is God*s judgment. Actually, what the Lord Jesus Christ did was to go into the slave market of sin, so to speak, and find me there. He paid the price of my freedom by giving His life for mine. Then he took me by the hand and led me out saying, *Child, you*re free -- because you*re Mine.* He did exactly the same thing for you, if you have trusted Him for salvation.

I am an object of God*s grace. The grace of God admits you to the very heart of God, so that you may learn the things that please Him. Grace is not simply a handy formula for getting saved, as we sometimes imply in quoting Ephesians 2:8-9: *For by grace are ye saved through faith...* Oh, no. The grace of God is Jesus Himself, the embodiment of God*s unexplainable love for poor sinners such as we.

Small thought here. To make Jesus Lord of every detail of our lives, the cohesive center around which everything gathers, we must consciously recognize His ownership and willingly put Him in charge. Just as you exercised faith when you received Him as Savior, so now are you to trust Him as Lord of all the component parts of your life as they come to your attention one by one.
